Overnight desert safari Dubai camp under the stars

Morning vs Evening vs Overnight Desert Safari Dubai: Which Should You Book?

Quick answer
  • First visit to Dubai? Book the evening desert safari — it includes everything: dune bashing, sunset, camel ride, sandboarding, BBQ dinner and shows.
  • Short on time or travelling with kids? The morning safari is shorter, adventure-focused and back by lunchtime.
  • Want something unforgettable? The overnight safari adds a night under the stars and a desert sunrise.

All three safaris take you into the same Lahbab Red Dunes, but the experience is very different. Here is how they compare, based on what our guests tell us after each tour.

Exact timings depend on season and your hotel location — we confirm pickup when you book.

Evening desert safari: the classic

The evening desert safari is our most booked tour. Pickup is in the afternoon, you dune bash as the light turns golden, stop for sunset photos, then arrive at camp for camel riding, sandboarding, henna, BBQ dinner and live entertainment. If you want one tour that “does it all”, this is it.

Choose it if: it is your first desert trip, you are in a group, or you want dinner included.

Morning desert safari: adrenaline without the late night

The morning desert safari focuses on the dunes themselves: dune bashing, sandboarding and a camel ride, usually with time to add a quad bike or dune buggy session. You are back at your hotel in time for lunch, leaving the evening free.

Choose it if: you have young children with early bedtimes, a packed itinerary, or you want maximum driving time on the sand.

Overnight desert safari: the memorable one

The overnight desert safari starts like the evening tour but you stay on after the other guests leave. The camp quietens, the stars come out in a way you never see in the city, and you wake to sunrise over the dunes before breakfast and the drive back.

Choose it if: you are celebrating, love photography, or simply want to experience the desert at its quietest.

Other options worth knowing

Our recommendation

If you are only doing one: evening. If you are coming back to Dubai or want something different: overnight in the cooler months, morning in summer. Unsure? Send us your dates and group on WhatsApp — we will tell you honestly what suits you, even if it is the cheaper option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better, morning or evening desert safari?

Evening is better for first-timers because it includes sunset, dinner and shows. Morning is better for adventure-focused guests, families with small children and summer visits.

Does the morning desert safari include dinner?

No. The morning safari focuses on dune bashing, sandboarding and camel riding and returns around lunchtime. Dinner is part of the evening and overnight safaris.

Is the overnight desert safari worth it?

For couples, photographers and anyone who wants stargazing and sunrise, yes. It is especially comfortable from November to March.

Can I add a quad bike or dune buggy to any safari?

Yes, quad bike and dune buggy add-ons are available with most safaris. Morning tours leave the most time for them.
